- in modern European literature; in Zurich. Frequently mentioned
- as a contender for the Nobel Prize, Frisch created works that
- revolved around characters struggling for identity amid
- changing values and ideologies. His international literary
- reputation was firmly established with I'm Not Stiller (1954),
- Homo Faber (1959) and Andorra (1961). Before he took to
- full-time writing, Frisch practiced architecture and was a
- correspondent for newspapers in Europe and the Middle East.
